The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

NHS membership is a privilege bestowed upon students by the Faculty of the school and is not considered a right inherent to any student. Membership is granted only to those students selected by the Faculty Council on the condition of having met the standards for selection based upon the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, character, and service.

Eligibility

1. Student must have attended MTHS for at least one semester prior to application.

2. The student must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.75 or higher after completing five semesters (for junior year) or seven semesters (for senior year).

3. Student must have completed a minimum of 20 hours of verified community service between the beginning of 9th grade and the time of application submission.
